About

Parson Holding the Book

The Baptist Parson (Christopher Beckham) serves as a pastor of a terrific Baptist church in the Upper South. This blog contains commentary about rural life, church life, Bible based devotions, notes on Christian literature, and provide what will hopefully be helpful resources for pastors, church members, and other interested people.

And just in case you’re wondering, “parson” is just an old-fashioned word for pastor. You have probably heard of a church-provided home being called a “parsonage.” Well, the parson part of that referred to the person who lived there.

You can contact me at baptistparson AT yahoo DOT com. Just make the usual character substitutions for  “AT” and ”DOT” in what I list here.

    • Thank you for your post. I am not really aware of anything, but if the church and association are affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention, then perhaps the missions agencies of the SBC could be of assistance.
